Slut. Hooker. Whore. The taunts never bothered me. They only see what I allow them to see, and a Las Vegas stripper is the perfect cover. My life had direction. I had a mission—until the man I needed vanished and is presumed dead. It’s time to move on—give up the dream for revenge—and no one shows me that more than the mop-headed fighter with eyes the color of the ocean. If anyone can teach me just how sweet life can be, it’s him. But first, I’d have to let go.Mase. Baywatch. Mayhem.
I’m known by many names, but there’s only one that stirs panic and worry in my gut every time I’m called it.
I’ve bailed him out of trouble for years, so when he turns up in Vegas and asks for me, I’m prepared for the worst. And the worst is exactly what I get in the form of a lilac-eyed beauty named Trix.
She’s everything I hate about Vegas: a stripper, loose with her body and her morals. But there’s something about her, a complexity that she buries deep, and I’m determined to uncover it.
The deeper I go, the less I understand. When I finally learn the truth, we engage in a battle where life and death hang in the balance. Fighting could kill us both, but if we win, forever is the prize.
I don’t even know where to begin with this book. Amazing doesn’t come close to covering it. I have absolutely loved every book in this series, and Fighting for Forever has taken over the top spot as my favorite. This book brings us the story of Mason and Trix, both of which we met in previous books.
Mason was the typical laid-back surfer boy until Eve broke his heart by picking Cameron over him, which has left him angry, bitter, and resentful. Surprise visitors come into town, bringing trouble with them. Mason is unexpectedly dragged into the mess with them, which only adds to his anger. He’s on edge when he runs into Trix, literally. This initial meeting is as far from love at first sight as it could possibly be.
Trix is harboring a world of hurt from a less than ideal past, which has led her on a path that is not what she wanted or expected for her future. In her line of work, she has to be strong on the outside and appear strong on the inside, no matter how far from reality that may be. When she runs into Mason, she snarky side wins out, and she gives him attitude that he’s not used to from women.
Although Mason and Trix appear to hate each other after their initial run-in, neither can deny the instant attraction that they felt towards one another. Not realizing that they share mutual friends, they find themselves in the same place at the same time several time, and the attraction that they felt only grows. Putting their initial attitudes aside, they begin to form a strong friendship, and soon realize that there is more there than just physical attraction.
As Mason and Trix begin to explore the possibility of a relationship, they find that there are a lot of obstacles that they must overcome in order to be together. Trix must learn to deal with her past, and Mason has to decide if he can overlook and accept her choice of career. When both their pasts collide in an unexpected turn of events, everything that they had planned for their future together could be destroyed.
There were so many twists and turns in this book, it leaves you guessing as to what was going to happen next, and wondering who could be trusted. As I’ve come to expect from the books in this series, it was packed full of emotion. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll definitely swoon. Mason is AMAZING! I can’t recommend Fighting for Forever highly enough. 5 well-deserved stars.
